India face South Africa in a must-win match in Visakhapatnam to keep the T20I series alive. India are trailing the five-match series 0-2 and needs to win this game to stay alive in the series. A loss in Vizag would mean that India would lose the T20Iseries to the Proteas after losing a Test annd a T20I series earlier this year.

Skipper Rishabh Pant is under the pump to deliver as captain as is the entire Indian thinktank. Cumulatively they have taken decisions that have been baffling to say the least. Sending Axar Patel above Dinesh Karthik in the batting-order in Cuttack was one such decision.

Given how the team has performed in the first two games, there should be some changes in the playing XI. They picked an XI for the first T20I and retained all of them in the second. However, India lost both those games and some players underperformed. In this article, we pick India’s playing XI for the third T20I against South Africa in Vizag.

India can try Venkatesh Iyer up at the top of the order after two back to back failures from Ruturaj Gaikwad. They can also use Iyer in the middle-order by sending Rishabh Pant to open alongside Ishan Kishan. Former Indian opener Virender Sehwag first spoke about Pant opening the batting in T20Is for India. Iyer also gives them an option with the ball.
