India vs South Africa- South Africa Playing 11 vs India (Predicted), IND vs SA 1st T20I, South Africa tour of India 2022. India is all set to host South Africa for a five-match T20I series in a space of just 10 days and the first T20I encounter between India vs South Africa is scheduled to take place on 9 June 2022 (Thursday) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi from 7:00 pm.

The T20I series between India vs South Africa will be ideal for the preparation of the 2022 T20I World Cup scheduled to be played in Australia in October-November.  It will be a payback series for the Indian side after coming empty-handed from the South Africa tour at the start of the year. India lost the Test series 2-1 and the ODI series by 3-0.

So their losing streak against South Africa is now 5 games in a row in two different formats. South Africa has not played international T20 cricket for a while now and they will be looking to do well against a rather inexperienced Indian team.

South Africa will assemble as a team for a T20I series for the first time after the 2021 T20I World Cup last year, though many of their players have already been in the T20 mode, thanks to the IPL 2022. Heinrich Klaasen makes a return to the SA T20I set up while India will welcome back Dinesh Karthik to their hut for the first time since 2019. India will also closely watch how Hardik Pandya performs as the all-rounder showed immense poise and leadership qualities in IPL 2022 while leading Gujarat Titans to the title.

There are no major injury problems in the South Africa camp for the 1st T20I between India vs South Africa. Temba Bavuma will captain the side. Quinton de Kock will be the wicket-keeper. The likes of Quinton de Kock, Temba Bavuma, Aiden Markram, and Rassie van der Dussen will be expected to take up the responsibility in the batting department. The trio of Kagiso Rabada, Tabraiz Shamsi, and Anrich Nortje will be their important clogs in the bowling contingent.

India has a lead over South Africa as far as the head-to-head record in India vs South Africa T20Is is concerned. The two sides have clashed in 15 matches, with India winning nine. India is yet to lose a T20I since October 2021. They have won 12 T20Is on the trot. South Africa has won 4 of their last 5 T20Is. They haven’t lost a T20I series in India. In the last 5 T20Is between India and South Africa, both teams have won twice, and the remaining game was abandoned due to the rain.

Quinton de Kock

The wicketkeeper-batter Quinton de Kock had an excellent Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 as he finished third in the most runs list after smashing 508 runs in just 15 innings at an impressive strike rate of 148.97. The left-handed batter was brutal with the bat and gave several quick starts to its new franchise Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).

Quinton de Kock will be looking to replicate his performance in upcoming India vs South Africa series as well. The southpaw, in fact, registered the highest score of the edition, clobbering 140* off 70 in a match against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

South Africa is likely to open with Reeza Hendricks and experienced keeper-batter Quinton de Kock in the 1st India vs South Africa match. Reeza Hendricks struggled in the 2021 T20I World Cup in the UAE last year but displayed fantastic form in the T20s last month while representing South Africa A against Zimbabwe XI. The 32-year-old smashed 77 off 35 in the second game and 101* off 55 in the fifth match.

Skipper Temba Bavuma will have the responsibility of occupying the crease from one end and keeping the scoreboard ticking in the India vs South Africa T20Is. Temba Bavuma is a very compact player and has all the shots in his arsenal.

South African captain Temba Bavuma is likely to bat at No. 5 in the India vs South Africa T20Is. The 32-year-old has scored 501 runs in 21 T20Is at an average of 27.83 and a strike rate of 123.09. Despite being the captain of the side, Temba Bavuma still has a point to prove as far as his T20 talent is concerned.

Aiden Markram

Aiden Markram, who had an excellent IPL 2022 after scoring 381 runs in 14 matches, will try to take on the Indian spinners during the middle-phased overs of their innings. Aiden Markram has been a key component in South Africa’s limited-overs squads. He is one of the cleanest strikers of the cricket ball and has been in good form as well. He smashed 381 runs in 14 matches for the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in IPL 2022 at a strike rate of 139.05.

Rassie van der Dussen

Batter Rassie van der Dussen did not have much say with the bat during IPL 2022, but the right-handed batter can clear the ropes easily and will want to prove his worth in the upcoming series. Rassie van der Dussen could not make much of an impact for the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in IPL 2022, scoring 22 runs in three games.

However, South Africa will back him to do well against India in the India vs South Africa T20Is. He has been among their most consistent performers with the willow in white-ball formats. After 34 T20Is, Rassie van der Dussen has a strike rate of 130.85 and an average of 38.87.

The left-handed batter David Miller was in his prime best during IPL 2022 as he played several match-winning knocks for the champions Gujarat Titans. David Miller is expected to give similar performances for his national team as well in the India vs South Africa T20I series.

There will be high hopes from David Miller following his exploits for the Gujarat Titans (GT) in IPL 2022. The attacking left-hander displayed a different kind of maturity, smashing 481 runs in 16 matches at a strike rate of 142.73.

Bowling all-rounder Dwaine Pretorius is a handy player. The right-arm pacer has a lot of variations under his sleeve and can bowl a few deadly bouncers as well. With the bat, he can play a few strokes, especially during the death overs. He was with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) during IPL 2022 and would have gotten a good idea of Indian conditions so far.

Dwaine Pretorius might look rather innocuous with the ball, but he is a handy pacer, especially at the death with his variations. He did a decent job for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the recently concluded IPL 2022, claiming six wickets in as many games. But his economy was on the higher side – 10. He can also chip in with the bat, which makes him a handy player to have on the team. Marco Jansen may also play in the 1st India vs South Africa T20I.

Kagiso Rabada

Kagiso Rabada will be South Africa’s pace spearhead. He had a memorable IPL 2022 campaign for the Punjab Kings (PBKS). He was the third-leading wicket-taker in the tournament with 23 wickets in 13 games at a strike rate of 12.52. He will be key to the Proteas’ fortunes in the T20I series.

Anrich Nortje

Following a long injury layoff, the pacer Anrich Nortje returned to competitive cricket, representing the Delhi Capitals (DC) during IPL 2022. He claimed nine wickets in six matches and had begun to find his groove towards the latter half of the group stage.

Express pacers Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje will have the responsibility to take wickets during the field restrictions. Both pacers have given some match-winning performances for their country while bowling in tandem and will want to give their level best in front of a strong Indian batting line-up in India vs South Africa T20Is.

Keshav Maharaj

Keshav Maharaj has six wickets in eight T20Is at an excellent economy rate of 5.82. In the spin department, the bowling duo of Keshav Maharaj and Tabraiz Shamsi will want to choke the flow of runs during the middle overs.

Tabraiz Shamsi

Tabraiz Shamsi is a genuine wicket-taker, as his record in the T20I format proves – 57 wickets in 47 T20I games. The pitch at Arun Jaitley Stadium is expected to provide some assistance for the spinners,  and the spin duo of Keshav Maharaj and Tabraiz Shamsi will want to take full advantage of those conditions in the India vs South Africa 1st T20I.
