India vs South Africa; Weather Forecast And Pitch Report Of Holkar Stadium, Indore, 3rd T20I: South Africa tour of India 2022

In April 2006, the Holkar Cricket Stadium hosted its first international fixture – a One-Day International (ODI) match between India and England. The hosts defeated the England side by seven wickets. The ground later staged its first Test match in October 2016 and T20 international in December 2017. Since then, the venue has staged two T20Is, five ODIs and two Tests.

The last time the Indian cricket team played a T20I at this venue in Indore, the hosts secured a seven-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in January 2020. The Men in Blue have won both their T20I matches at Holkar Cricket Stadium so far.

Sri Lanka’s 142/9 against India, posted in January 2020, is the lowest T20I total at the Holkar Cricket Stadium. With India electing to field first, Shardul Thakur picked three wickets while Navdeep Saini and Kuldeep Yadav bagged two wickets each to restrict Sri Lanka to a paltry total in their 20 overs. The hosts chased down the total in 17.3 overs and secured a seven-wicket win in Indore, Madhya Pradesh.

India’s 260/5 against Sri Lanka is the highest T20I total at this venue. Put in to bat, India rode on captain Rohit Sharma’s blitzkrieg 43-ball 118 and KL Rahul’s 89 off 49 balls to post their highest-ever T20I score in their allotted 20 overs in the second match of the series in December 2017. In reply, Sri Lanka were bowled out for 172 in 17.2 overs to succumb to an 88-run defeat.

The Holkar Stadium pitch is a true pitch that offers consistent bounce and carries which will keep the batsmen confident in playing their shots. The stadium has very short boundaries and this could add to the woes of bowlers here.

The temperature during the match time is pegged at 21 degrees Celcius on the 4th October 2022 night. Humidity will be 65% with cloud cover over the city. But there is no rain threat to the match and a full match is expected. The chances of precipitation are 9% and the wind direction will be North-North West at 10 km/h according to weather.com.
