South Africa Tour Of India 2022, SA Playing 11 vs IND (Predicted), 1st T20I. After an enthralling victory over Australia in the final game to take the series 2-1, India will be gearing up to take on South Africa for a three-match T20I series.

The first match of the series will be played at Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram on 28th September from 7 pm onwards. This will be the second time South Africa visiting India to play a T20I series in 2022.

South Africa’s success in this T20I format took a turn last year. Since then they have won 5 out of the 6 T20 series and have drawn one. The drawn series one came against India when they visited them in June. The Proteas were 2-0 up in the 5-match series but lost the next two T20Is by big margins. They are yet to lose a T20I series in India. Out of three T20I series on Indian soil, they have won one and have drawn 2.

South Africa will be eager to test its squad depth as a preparation for the 2022 T20I World Cup. Temba Bavuma and Quinton de Kock will open the innings. Quinton de Kock has 2 fifties in the last 4 games against India. Reeza Hendricks will be the point of attraction. Reeza Hendricks was the leading run-scorer in South Africa’s both series against England and Ireland.

Aiden Markram and Rilee Rossouw in the middle will be a threat to the Indian bowling attack. South Africa will have a dilemma to choose between Henrich Klassen and Tristan Stubbs. Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, and Lungi Ngidi will lead the pace attack.

Wayne Parnell and Dwaine Pretorius will also be in contention. But Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje’s form in the Test series again England showed that they will be the obvious choices.

Keshav Maharaj and Tabraiz Shamsi are the Proteas spin options. Tabraiz Shamsi was the leading wicket-taker against England.

Rassie van der Dussen was the most notable omission from the 2022 T20I World Cup Proteas squad as he continues nursing the finger injury he suffered during the second Test against England. The 33-year-old is expected to undergo surgery and will be out of action for at least six weeks.

In some good news for South Africa, captain Temba Bavuma has recovered completely from the elbow injury he sustained during the T20I series against India in June and is set to lead the Proteas in a second World Cup in a row.

Rilee Rossow, who made his return to the South Africa T20I setup after a gap of six years in July, also finds a place in the squad.  The same 15-member squad travelled to India for the three-match T20I series later this month ahead of the World Cup.

The wicketkeeper-batter Quinton de Kock had an excellent Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 as he finished third in the most runs list after smashing 508 runs in just 15 innings at an impressive strike rate of 148.97.

The left-handed batter was brutal with the bat and gave several quick starts to its new franchise Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). The southpaw, in fact, registered the highest score of the edition, clobbering 140* off 70 in a match against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

Quinton de Kock will be looking to replicate his performance in upcoming India vs South Africa T20I series as well. He isn’t in good touch with the bat in T20Is of late averaging 17.25 (T20I World Cup 2021), 18 (vs India June 2022), 5.67 (vs England 2022) and 7 (vs Ireland 2022). In 8 T20Is this year, he averaged a mere 9.57 managing just 67 runs.

Despite being the captain of the side, Temba Bavuma still has a point to prove as far as his T20 talent is concerned. He got injured during the Proteas’ last India tour in June 2022 managing just 61 runs in 4 T20Is averaging 20.33. He was retired hurt after scoring 8* in the 4th T20I and didn’t play subsequent England and Ireland T20Is.

Rilee Rossouw has played in just about every league around the world and brings with him an invaluable experience to the South Africa batting line-up that could take them up a notch. He last played for South Africa in the 2016 T20I World Cup before the recent England series where he managed 131 runs in 3 T20Is averaging 65.5 and was the 3rd highest run-getter.
