IND vs SL: I Would Like To Dedicate This Knock To My Brother-In-Law : Ravindra Jadeja After Scoring 175* vs SL in Mohali

Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja on Saturday dedicated his second Test century against Sri Lanka to his brother-in-law.

Jadeja hammered the Sri Lankan bowlers all around the park after continuing on the second day with his overnight score of 45.

Jadeja displayed a fearless batting approach as he led India’s scoreboard along with Ravichandran Ashwin (61) in a 130-run alliance for the seventh wicket. Despite Ashwin’s dismissal to Suranga Lakmal, Jadeja kept toying with the visitors with his explosive batting display.  The 33-year-old Indian all-rounder hammered 17 fours and a six batting at a strike rate of 76.75.

Jadeja completed a single off Lasith Embuldeniya’s over to reach the three-figure mark on the second instance in the red-ball format and his inimitable trademark celebration of swinging the bat like a sword was once again on the screen.

Jadeja said that his brother-in-law was behind him to reach the three-figure mark for a long time and when he finally achieved the milestone on Saturday, the Saurashtra player mentioned him for his spectacular innings.

“Yes, you asked the right question. I would like to dedicate this knock to my brother-in-law as he was telling me for a long time to score a hundred and take his name in front of the camera. So thank you very much,” Jadeja said in the press conference after the gameplay of Day 2. 

Jadeja remained unbeaten on 175 along with Mohammed Shami (20) as India cruised to a gigantic score of 574/8 before skipper Rohit Sharma declared the innings. The Indian fans were disappointed with the team management’s decision as it became a hindrance in Jadeja’s maiden double-hundred.

The all-rounder opened up that he only conveyed the decision to the Indian dressing room to indicate the conditions of the pitch. Jadeja’s decision was beneficial as India reduced the visitors to 108/4 at the end of the second day.
