Updated - 27 Feb 2022, 10:18 AM
Sri Lanka aren’t in the best of form as far T20Is are concerned. In the last 6 T20 internationals, they have only managed to win once. Sri Lanka lost the first T20I of the ongoing three-match series against India by 62 runs. India batted first in that match and managed to compile a gigantic score of 199 runs in the first innings.
In reply, Sri Lanka could only manage to score 137, thereby falling 62 runs short of the target. In this article, we have compiled our predicted playing XI of the Sri Lankan Cricket Team for the third T20 international. Here’s a look at it.
IND vs SL 2022: Sri Lanka’s Predicted Playing XI For 3rd T20I, Sri Lanka tour of India 2022
Openers: Pathum Nissanka and Niroshan Dickwella
Wicket-keeper batsman, Niroshan Dickwella has been added to the T20 squad as a replacement. He could partner up with Pathum Nissanka for the third T20I. Pathum Nissanka is the man in form. He has been in brilliant form. He, unfortunately, got out on the very first ball in the first T20I but would be looking to end the series on a high.
Middle-Order: Charith Asalanka, Dhananjaya de Silva and Dinesh Chandimal
Charith Asalanka was the only batsman who scored a half-century for Sri Lanka in the first T20I. He is currently one of the best batsmen in the Sri Lankan team as far as the white ball is concerned. It will be interesting to see if he could produce another valuable knock in the final T20I of the series.
The experience of Dinesh Chandimal and Dhananjaya de Silva should keep the team in good stead. With Kusal Mendis not there, the team could think of playing both Chandimal and de Silva in the last game.
All-rounders: Dasun Shanaka and Chamika Karunaratne
Bowlers: Dushmantha Chameera, Praveen Jayawickrama, Jeffrey Vandersay, Lahiru Kumara
The likes of Dushmantha Chameera and Lahiru Kumara should share the fast bowling duties. The former has impressed one and all with his pace and consistent line and lengths. Although, he had a forgettable outing in the first match of the series. Chameera conceded 42 runs in 4 overs without a wicket to his name.
His partner, Lahiru Kumara also need to be a bit more consistent with his lines if he wants to make an impact in the game. In the absence of Hasaranga and Theekshana, Praveen Jayawickrama and Jeffrey Vandersay will share the spin bowling duties.
