The second IND vs SL Test match starts from March 12 onwards in Bengaluru. This is a day-night Test match and the BCCI has allowed 50 per cent crowd capacity to view the match from the stadium. India are currently leading the 2-Test match series 1-0 with one to play courtesy of their win by an innings and 222 runs. 

India looked comfortable against Sri Lanka throughout the first Test. There were many landmarks that were achieved by several Indian players in the Test match. It was the near-perfect match for Rohit’s men who dominated the opposition throughout the three days of the Test match.

Rohit Sharma has been keen on giving chances to his players and using his bench strength. With a series to win, there are enough chances that he will make a few changes to the playing XI and try out a few things in the second IND vs SL Test in Bengaluru. Mayank Agarwal not making full use of his opportunity has given the team management an option to try out Shubman Gill at the top. He missed the Test series against South Africa due to an injury. He has returned fit into the Test team and played his last Test match against New Zealand.

Gill came up with impressive scores opening the batting for India and has all the chances to be recalled into the playing XI for the second IND vs SL Test in Bengaluru. The right-hander has played 10 Tests so far and is closing in on 600 runs with a best of 91. 

Axar Patel

The BCCI included the left-arm spinner in place of Kuldeep Yadav for the second Test. Axar Patel will be making a comeback to the team after a long time as he has been out of action since the Mumbai Test against New Zealand. In just five Tests, Axar picked up 36 wickets so far in his career. He will pair up with Ravindra Jadeja and R Ashwin as India is expected to field a spin-heavy attack in the second Test.

While announcing the India squad for the Test series against Sri Lanka on February 22, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had stated “Axar Patel is currently undergoing his rehab and is not available for selection for the first Test. He will be assessed later to ascertain his selection for the second Test.”

Mohammed Siraj

 There is a chance for Siraj to make it to the playing XI in case the management wants to rest one of their senior bowlers. Both the pacers are a constant part of India’s Test squad and it will not be a good idea to rest one of the Having said that bot the bowlers are recharged and have recovered after the long Test series against South Africa.
