IND vs SL: He Is Going To Repeat Those Feats Consistently: R Ashwin Lauds Ravindra Jadeja's Heroics In First Test

Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja had a Test match to remember against Sri Lanka in Mohali. He scored an unbeaten 175 with the bat and picked up nine wickets in the match including a fifer in the first innings. His Indian teammate Ravichandran Ashwin also had a memorable Test match as he went past Kapil Dev’s tally of 434 Test wickets. Ashwin currently has 436 Test wickets to his name after taking a total of six wickets in the first Test.

Courtesy of the brilliance from Jadeja and Ashwin India beat Sri Lanka by an innings and 222 runs in the first Test. The second match, a day-night encounter, will begin at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Friday, March 12. Ahead of the second Test, Ashwin has lauded Jadeja for the rare feat he achieved in Mohali. The southpaw had spoken about achieving the same dream in one of his conversations with ESPN Cricinfo sometime ago.

“I am sure that is not going to be the first one and the last one we see. I am sure he is going to repeat those feats consistently over the next few years and I really do wish to see Jadeja cross barriers and barriers,” explained Ashwin.

Ashwin further said that he was surprised to see Jadeja taking to long to achieve his dream of scoring a hundred and taking a fifer in the same test.

“To think about the fact that Jadeja’s first hundred and five-wicket accumulation in a Test match came only now is a matter of surprise for me because the way he has gone about his business and the kind of pedigree he carries” Ashwin further said on Jadeja

India have gained some points courtesy of their huge win in the first Test. They are placed fifth in the ICC WTC 2021-23 points table. They are on 54.16 percentage points and on the fifth spot while the Lankans are on the third with 66.66 points.
