India and Sri Lanka are slated to play the second and last Test match of the series from 12th to 16th March 2022 in Bangalore. For those of you who don’t know, the second Test match will be played with the Pink ball at the iconic M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
So far, India have played two pink-ball Tests twice at home and they have managed to win both of them by comprehensive margins. India played their first pink-ball Test against Bangladesh at Eden Gardens stadium in Kolkata. They won that game by an innings and 46 runs. The second pink-ball Test was played against England at the Narendra Modi Stadium last year. India won that match by 10 wickets.
India are currently leading 1-0 in the two-match Test series. In what was the first game as captain, Rohit Sharma led India to a victory by an innings and 222 runs. India finished the game only inside the first three overs of the innings. A combined batting effort from India helped them post a mammoth score of 574 runs in the first innings.
Ravindra Jadeja was the standout performer with the bat as he notched a sensational knock of 175 runs in 228 deliveries. Rishabh Pant too played an outstanding knock of 96 runs in 97 balls. India later bundled Sri Lanka out twice inside two days.
Ravindra Jadeja exhibited sensational performance with the ball as he picked a five-wicket haul in the second innings. Riding on his five-wicket haul, India managed to bundle out Sri Lanka for just 174 runs in the second innings. Pathum Nissanka top-scored for the Island nation, managing 61 runs in 133 balls. However, he lacked support from the other batsmen.
Ravindra Jadeja and Ashwin picked four wickets each in the third innings too, once again, bundle out Sri Lanka for just 178 runs. As a result, India won the game by a big margin of an innings and 222 runs. Axar Patel, who is deemed fit to play, has been added to the squad. As for Sri Lanka, Lahiru Kumara has got injured and he has been ruled out of the second Test.
