India and Sri Lanka are set to play the second T20 international of the three-match series on Saturday at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association in Dharamsala. India are currently leading the series by a 1-0 margin. The Men in Blue beat Sri Lanka by 62 runs in the first T20I on Thursday. Sri Lankan captain Dasun Shanaka won the toss and asked India to bat first.

Skipper Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan gave the team a sensational start. The duo put on an excellent 111-run partnership for the opening wicket and, thereby, set the foundation for a big score.

Rohit Sharma got out in the 12th over after making valuable 44 runs in 32 balls. His partner, Ishan Kishan, however, kept scoring boundaries all around the ground. He wreaked havoc with the bat, smashing 89 runs in 56 balls, a knock which was laced with 10 fours and 3 sixes.

The southpaw got out in the 17th over off Shanaka while trying to hit the ball over deep mid-wicket. Shreyas Iyer, however, continued the momentum and smashed boundaries all around the ground in the final few overs.

He ended up unbeaten on 57 off 28 balls and, thereby, helped the team reach 199 runs in the first innings. None of the Sri Lankan bowlers made an impact with the ball. There is no denying the fact that Sri Lanka dearly missed the services of Wanindu Hasaranga and Theekshana in the first game.

In reply, Sri Lanka could only manage to score 137 runs in the second innings. Bhuvneshwar got the wicket of in-form batsman Pathum Nissanka on the very first ball. Wickets kept falling at regular intervals thereafter and Sri Lanka was never able to inject any momentum into the innings.

Left-hander Charith Asalanka showed great, and determination and fought his way to a well-made 53 off 47 balls, However, he received little support from the other batsmen. As for the Indian bowling unit, Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 2 for 9 runs in 2 overs.

Venkatesh Iyer was given three overs to bowl. He returned with figures of 2 for 36 runs. Heading into the second game on Friday, India would look to continue the winning momentum.
