India and Sri Lanka are set to play the third and final T20I of the series on Sunday at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala. Team India started off the series brilliantly. They won the first game by a huge margin of 62 runs. Sri Lankan skipper, Dasun Shanaka won the toss and asked India to bat first.

Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan gave the team a sensational start with the bat. The duo added as many as 111 runs for the opening wicket. Rohit Sharma got out after scoring valuable 44 runs off 32 deliveries in the 12th over of the innings. But it didn’t have any effect on the scoring rate as Ishan Kishan kept hitting boundaries all around the ground.

The southpaw went on to score 89 runs in just 56 balls, a knock which was laced with 10 fours and 3 sixes. Shreyas Iyer struggled to get his timing right in the first 15 balls but changed gears thereafter. He scored 57 runs in just 28 deliveries and helped the team reach a formidable 199-run total in the first innings.

Sri Lanka, in reply, could only manage to score 137 runs in the second innings. They made a poor start as the in-form batsman, Pathum Nissanka got out on the very first ball he faced off Bhuvneshwar Kumar. The likes of Kamil Mishara and Janith Liyanage also failed to inspire any confidence with the bat.

Charith Asalanka was the only batsman who looked solid and scored a half-century for the team. However, he lacked support from the other end. It was a combined bowling effort from the India team which helped them restrict Sri Lanka to a low total.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 2 for 9 in 2 overs. Besides, Yuzvendra Chahal (1 for 11) and Ravindra Jadeja (1 for 28) also returned with exceptional figures. India might give chance to Avesh Khan in the final T20I of the series. Also, for those of you who don’t know, Ruturaj Gaikwad has been ruled out of the series and Mayank Agarwal has been added as a replacement.
