The second and the final Test of the two-match Test between India and Sri Lanka is scheduled to be played at M. Chinnaswamy stadium from 12th to 16th March 2022. For those of you who don’t know, the match will be played with the pink ball. India have previously played two matches at home with the pink ball. India managed to win both those matches and would want to continue that winning streak.

Axar Patel, who picked 11 wickets in India’s last pink-ball Test match against England, is likely to come back into the playing XI for the second Test. He has fully recovered from his injury and has been added to India’s squad. Jayant Yadav, who looked lacklustre with the ball, should make way for him. Ravindra Jadeja was the standout performer for India in the last Test match.

He played the best knock of his Test cricket career in the last game. The southpaw managed to score 175 runs in 228 balls. His innings was laced with 17 fours and 3 sixes. Riding on his outstanding knock, India posted a huge score of 574 runs in the first innings. The likes of Rishabh Pant (96 off 97) and R Ashwin (61 off 82) also made substantial contributions.
Later, Jadeja picked a five-wicket haul in the second innings to help India bundle out Sri Lanka for just 174 runs. Ashwin and Bumrah also picked two wickets each. With Sri Lanka still trailing by a huge margin, India decided to enforce the follow-on.

The visitors, once again, succumbed under pressure against some sensational spin bowling display from the Ashwin-Jadeja duo. Both picked four wickets each and bundled out Sri Lanka for 178 runs, thereby losing the game by a massive margin.
Sri Lanka would be disappointed with their performance with the bat. Barring Pathum Nissanka, no other batsman managed to score a half-century in the first innings. The likes of Asalanka, Mathews, and Dhanajaya de Silva showed some resistance in the second innings but failed to convert the start into big scores. They would be looking to exhibit better batting performances in the next Test match.
In a big blow for them, Lahiru Kumara has been ruled out of the next Test match due to injury. Sri Lanka would be tempted to play one extra spinner and thus might bring in Jayawickrama in the playing XI.
