Ravindra Jadeja shone with the bat in back to back matches in Dharamsala. After scoring an unbeaten 45 in the second T20I, he followed it up with another unbeaten 15-ball 22 in the third T20I to help India whitewash the Lankans in the three-match T20I series. India won the match with more than three overs to spare.

Shreyas Iyer scored an unbeaten 73 which was his third fifty on the trot in the series. He added an unbeaten 45-run stand with Jadeja to take India home. While Iyer and Jadeja made most of the opportunities with the bat, Venkatesh Iyer (5) and Sanju Samson (18) did not.

For Samson, it was a brilliant chance to follow up his 39 in the second T20I with another big score but he failed to do so. He also opened the batting with Rohit Sharma and had the opportunity to pace his innings as well.

Meanwhile, after the game, Ravindra Jadeja spoke about his batting and revealed why he did not bowl in the third and final T20I. “The plan was to give Bishnoi and Kuldeep some match practice today, that’s the reason I didn’t bowl” said Jadeja.

The southpaw also spoke about his fitness and his preparations for the upcoming Test series against the Lankans.

“I have worked hard at the NCA, the trainers there were helpful, that was my preparation for the T20Is and the upcoming Tests,” Jadeja added saying.

The third T20I win was India’s 12th on the trot in this format equalling Afghanistan’s record of 12 straight wins between February 2018 to September 2019. They also had an 11-game winning streak between March 2016 to March 2017.

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma was happy with another series win and complimented the team for their overall performance.

“We played very well. Lot of positives came out from the series. Want to understand what kind of bench strength we have. Good to give opportunities to those guys.

“Important to tell guys not to worry about your positions in the team. Want to fill whatever gaps we have. Keeping that in mind we want to move forward. Going to be a big challenge but always nice to have guys in form (whom to pick),” said Rohit.
