Chandigarh police are on high alert after a couple of bullet shells were discovered on the bus that was transporting Sri Lankan players from Hotel Lalit to R S Bindra Cricket Stadium in Mohali.

A routine check was conducted by the police on Saturday when they happened to come across two bullet shells in the luggage compartment of the private bus. They were using metal detectors when the discovery was made.

As of now, no FIR has been registered but a DDR was written. The bus was parked inside the hotel complex under the IT Park Police Station. Notably, the investigation has confirmed that the bus was hired from Tara Brothers operating in Sector 17, Chandigarh.

The officials haven’t revealed details about the cartridges used. The SHO of the Police Station, Shadilal, stayed away from the cameras and hasn’t spoken about the shells yet.

They questioned the bus driver and the owners but nothing has been found yet. A theory runs that the bus was hired for a marriage function in Punjab where celebratory gun firing is common practice.
