Notably, Indian selectors have announced the squad for ODI and Test series with Rohit Sharma trusted to lead the squad in both series against Bangladesh. While they have rested a few senior players for the New Zealand tour, the full-strength squad has been named against Bangladesh.

The 32-year-old pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar was not included in the ODI squad against New Zealand and Bangladesh. The 32-year pacer may retire after Sri Lanka ODIs if the team management is against his inclusion in the 2023 ODI World Cup. He has picked 141 scalps in 121 ODIs, the last of which came against South Africa in the Proteas tour in January 2022.

At the T20 World Cup 2022, Indian fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar established himself as India’s all-time leading wicket-taker in the shortest format.  The game’s shortest format has seen 90 wickets taken by the outstanding pacer in 87 T20Is. Bhuvneshwar Kumar had an excellent Asia Cup 2022 where he was the leading wicket-taker with 11 scalps in 5 T20Is including a career-best of 5/4 against Afghanistan.
