Sunil Gavaskar, the renowned Indian cricketer, slammed Arshdeep Singh for bowling five no-balls during India’s second T20I against Sri Lanka.
The left arm overstepped three times in his opening over and crossed the line twice more in the inning’s penultimate over.

The Indian pacers performed poorly against Sri Lanka in the second Twenty20 international on Thursday in Pune. As Sri Lanka’s batsmen had a good time and scored 206/6 in 20 overs, Shivam Mavi (4-0-53-0), Arshdeep Singh (2-0-37-0), and Umran Malik (4-0-48-3) were found guilty of bowling too many loose balls.
The young pacers delivering an excessive number of no-balls was the other thing that really stood out. Arshdeep bowled five no-balls by himself, which is a Full Member team record for a T20I bowler and a record for an Indian bowler. The Indians bowled seven no-balls in all.
Sunil Gavaskar slammed Arshdeep for overstepping multiple times:
Sunil Gavaskar, the renowned Indian batsman and former captain who was on-air for Star Sports at the moment, was not pleased with what happened on the pitch and lambasted Arshdeep for overstepping many times.
“As a professional, you can’t be doing this. We often hear today’s players say, ‘things aren’t in our control” Sunil Gavaskar said.
“Not bowling no balls is in your control. What happens after you deliver the ball, what the batsman does, is another thing. Not bowling a no ball is definitely in your control,” Sunil Gavaskar said while commentating on Star Sports.
Arshdeep Singh, India’s star bowler, returned to the playing XI for the second game after missing the first due to illness, but he had a forgetful day at work. He set an unwelcome record by bowling the most no-balls by an Indian bowler.
