IND vs SL: Rating All The Indian Players On The Basis Of Their Performance.  Leading the batting charge against Dasun Shanaka-led Sri Lanka in the 3rd IND vs SL T20I at Rajkot, Suryakumar Yadav smashed his 3rd T20I century to help India post a massive total of 228/5 in 20 overs on Saturday.

In reply, Sri Lanka only mustered 137 in 16.4 overs as Hardik Pandya-led India crushed the visitors by 91 runs to clinch the series 2-1 at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium.

Arshdeep Singh’s improved show in the series decider between India and Sri Lanka paved the way for the hosts to register a comfortable win over the visitors. Pacer Arshdeep Singh bagged three wickets while spinner Yuzvendra Chahal (2) shared four wickets with speedster Umran Malik (2) as Sri Lanka folded for 137 in 16.4 overs.

Under the leadership of all-rounder Hardik Pandya, Rohit Sharma-less Team India registered a massive 91-run win over Sri Lanka to seal the series 2-1 at Rajkot.

3rd IND vs SL T20I:- India 228 for 5 (Suryakumar 112*, Gill 46, Madushanka 2-55) beat Sri Lanka 137 (Mendis 23, Arshdeep 3-20, Hardik 2-30) by 91 runs

While batting first, Sri Lanka amassed 206 runs courtesy of a few significant efforts. To assist their team in defeating the Indians, Charith Asalanka-37(19), Kusal Mendis-52(31), and skipper Dasun Shanaka-56(22), all contributed. Only 190 runs could be scored by India in the allowed 20 overs, falling short of their target. Axar Patel scored 65 (31) and Suryakumar Yadav scored 51 (36), keeping the Indians in the contest.

Axar Patel tried his absolute best with both bat and ball, but Dasun Shanaka continued his all-round domination of India to bring up a 16-run win for Sri Lanka in what turned out to be a thrilling contest at MCA Stadium in Pune.

2nd IND vs SL T20I:- Sri Lanka 206 for 6 (Shanaka 56*, Kusal 52, Malik 3-48, Axar 2-24) beat India 190 for 8 (Axar 65, Suryakumar 51, Shanaka 2-4, Rajitha 2-22) by 16 runs.

In the 1st IND vs SL T20I, India prevailed in a low-scoring thriller thanks to late runs from Deepak Hooda and Axar Patel, and exceptional seam bowling from an attack missing pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, and Mohammed Shami. The Wankhede pitch was anything but the batting paradise it usually is in T20 cricket: there was grip for spinners, which Sri Lanka used well before the new ball seamed around for India’s quicks.

Ishan Kishan got India off to a quick start before the spinners pulled them back. Deepak Hooda and Axar Patel then added 68 in 5.5 overs to take India to 162. On the same pitch, India found assistance for fast bowlers with Hardik Pandya joining debutant Shivam Mavi who took 4/22, Umran Malik, and Harshal Patel in causing damage.
Sri Lanka had a brief recovery from 68 for 5 through captain Dasun Shanaka’s 45 off 27, but Axar Patel managed to defend 12 in a last-over gamble as India won 1st IND vs SL T20I by 2 runs.
1st IND vs SL T20I: India 162 for 5 (Hooda 41*, Axar 31*) beat Sri Lanka 160 (Shanaka 45, Mavi 4-22) by two runs

IND vs SL: Rating All The Indian Players On The Basis Of Their Performance

Ishan Kishan: 2/10

Ishan Kishan’s disappointing series came to an end with a disappointing dismissal. He fished at one outside off and nicked off to slip, squandering a golden opportunity to lay claim to an opening spot in T20Is.

There were high hopes from Ishan Kishan after his double ton-his maiden ton in ODI in the preceding ODI series against Bangladesh, but the opener could score only 37 off 29 in the 1st T20I, 2 off 5 in the 2nd T20I and 1 off 2 in the 3rd T20I. He scored 40 runs in 3 IND vs SL T20Is averaging 13.33.

Shubman Gill: 7/10

Shubman Gill started horribly slowly, not scoring off his first nine deliveries. He eventually ended up on 46 off 36, a knock that included two fours and three sixes. The batter has a long way to go before he can be considered a reliable T20 opener, but he would’ve been happy to make the first contribution of his T20I career.

Shubman Gill had failed in the first two T20Is scoring 7 off 5 in the 1st and 5 off 3 in the 2nd in his debut T20I series. His 46 in the 3rd T20I meant he ended the IND vs SL T20I series with 58 runs averaging 19.33.

Suryakumar Yadav: 10/10

The scoops flicks and lofted drives were all there as Suryakumar Yadav extended his ridiculous T20I record. There are no words to describe his genius. Suryakumar Yadav failed in the 1st T20I, scoring only 7 off 10 balls before being at his absolute best in the next two IND vs SL T20Is.

His 51 off 36 balls in the 2nd T20I went in vain but a stunning unbeaten 112 off 51 balls in the 3rd T20I resulted in India’s win. He finished as the highest run-getter in the IND vs SL T20I series with 170 runs averaging 85 at a strike rate of 175.26.

Rahul Tripathi: 7/10

Rahul Tripathi

Rahul Tripathi’s 35 off 16 was hugely important to India’s total as he made the most of the powerplay despite the loss of Ishan Kishan’s wicket early on. His intent and shot-making seem tailor-made for the Men in Blue to benefit from.

Rahul Tripathi replaced an injured Sanju Samson and scored 5 in the 2nd IND vs SL T20I-his debut international T20I game. Overall in 2 T20Is, he scored 40 runs averaging 20 at a strike rate of 190.48.

Hardik Pandya: 6/10

Hardik Pandya couldn’t finish things off as he holed out for just four runs, and his first two overs were expensive as well. He came back into the game, though, scalping two wickets in his remaining two overs. India’s skipper ensured his team ended the series on a high.

He could score only 45 runs in 3 IND vs SL T20Is averaging a mere 15 while picking 2 scalps in 9 overs averaging 27.5 at an economy of 6.11-one of the best economy rates in the series.

Sanju Samson: 1/10

Sanju Samson looked fidgety in the middle, nearly getting out before finally miscuing a slog in the 1st IND vs SL T20I. He was lackluster in the field as well, and India will expect more from him in the future. Sanju Samson took 2 catches but scored only 5 off 6 balls.

Sanju Samson had attempted a diving catch in the 1st over of Sri Lanka’s innings in the 1st T20I but he couldn’t hold onto the catch.  The wicket-keeper batter had a niggle on his knee and was ruled out of the next two T20Is.

Deepak Hooda: 6/10

Deepak Hooda, batting at No. 6, lasted only two balls in the 3rd T20I.  He struck his first for a boundary before finding a fielder in the deep. The batter needs to be used higher up the order.

The middle-order batter scored only 9 off 12 balls in the 2nd T20I lost by India but was Man of the Match in the 1st IND vs SL T20I, contributing to India’s 2 run win by scoring an unbeaten 41 off 23 balls which included 1 four and 4 sixes. He surprisingly didn’t bowl in any of the IND vs SL T20Is.

Axar Patel: 9.5/10

Axar Patel wrapped up a productive series with his third important batting contribution on the trot. He also chipped in with a wicket in the powerplay, denting Sri Lanka’s chase early. The all-rounder’s development was there for all to see.

Axar Patel picked 3 scalps in 3 T20Is averaging 24.67 at an economy of 7.4-the lowest among bowlers who bowled 10 or more overs in the series, besides scoring 117 runs averaging 117. He was deservingly awarded Man of the Series. for scoring 31*(20), 65(31) and 21* (9) respectively in the IND vs SL T20Is.

Arshdeep Singh: 7/10

Arshdeep Singh was still far from his best as his control and execution were off at times, but he ended up with three wickets in the 3rd T20I. He bounced out Pathum Nissanka before returning to pick out two more Sri Lankan batters at the death.

The youngster was surprisingly effective on the field as well. Arshdeep Singh replaced Harshal Patel in the 2nd T20I but was ineffective and wayward, bowling as many as 5 no balls, and returned with figures of 0/37 in 2 overs at a steep economy of 18.5. He returned back to form in the 3rd T20I, picking 3/20 in 2.4 overs at an economy of 7.5. Overall, in 2 T20Is, he picked 3 scalps at an average of 19 and an economy of 12.21.

Harshal Patel: 6/10

Harshal Patel’s first two overs in the 1st T20I produced two wickets, but he was a touch guilty of losing the plot at the death. Captain Hardik Pandya seemed unhappy with his execution on more than one occasion as Sri Lanka targeted the leg-side boundary against the veteran fast bowler.

Harshal Patel who proved too costly in the 1st T20I was replaced by Arshdeep Singh in the 2nd and 3rd T20Is. Harshal Patel took 2/41 in 4 overs at a steep economy of  10.25 runs per over in the first and only T20I he played in the IND vs SL T20I series.

Umran Malik: 8/10

Umran Malik was a breath of fresh air once again. He got the better of Wanindu Hasaranga for the second game running before castling Maheesh Theekshana. The pacer was splendid in the series for India, although his economy rate might not reflect the same.

Umran Malik took 2/31 in 3 overs in the 3rd T20I, 3/48 in the 2nd T20I, and 2/27 in 4 overs in the 1st T20I to finish as the leading wicket-taker in the IND vs SL T20I series with 7 scalps averaging a mere 15.14 at an economy of 9.64.

Shivam Mavi: 7.5/10

Shivam Mavi

Shivam Mavi bowled only one over in the 3rd T20I, which went for six runs. He took a superb running catch to dismiss Charith Asalanka though. In the 2nd T20I, he was a bit clueless conceding 53 runs in 4 wicketless overs after a dream debut in the 1st T20I, where he picked 4/ 22 in 4 overs removing the likes of Pathum Nissanka, Dhananjaya de Silva, Wanindu Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshana.

In 3 T20Is in this series, he picked 4 scalps-all in the 1st T20I averaging 20.25 at an economy of 9 runs per over in his maiden international series.

Yuzvendra Chahal: 6.5/10

Yuzvendra Chahal (Image Credits: Twitter)

Yuzvendra Chahal turned in a slightly improved performance, although his economy rate was 10. He sent back Charith Asalanka rather fortuitously before outsmarting Dhananjaya de Silva. The leg-spinner is trying to be quicker through the air, but he doesn’t inspire confidence right now.

In 3 overs, he conceded 30 runs picking 2 scalps in the 3rd T20I. He conceded 30 runs in 4 overs picking 1 wicket in the 2nd T20I. In the 1st T20I, he was wicketless and was costly as well, returning with figures of 0/26 in 2 overs. Overall he picked 3 scalps in 3 T20Is bowling 9 overs averaging 28.67 at a steep economy of 9.56 runs per over.
