Sri Lanka fielders Jeffrey Vandersay and Ashen Bandara were involved in a big collision during the 43rd over of the first innings of the match. Chamika Karunaratne was bowling the 43rd over and on the 5th delivery, he bowled a short ball to Kohli, which he pulled on the leg-side.
Vandersay ran to his left from the deep backward square leg and Bandara ran to his right from the deep midwicket to stop the ball from touching the boundary rope, which they both failed to do and the ball went for four. However, the players were involved in a scary collision and they were lying on the ground after colliding with each other.
The Sri Lankan physio and the Indian medical staff soon rushed onto the field to check on the players and then the stretchers were brought. Also, the players looked in pain after the collision and they were stretchered off the field.
