Bhanuka Rajapaksa, who has been going through a lean patch in T20Is, was promoted to No.3 after the Lankan Lions were off to a wonderful start in the match. He once again failed to register a big score as he was cleaned up by Umran for 2 in the 10th over.

On the first ball of the 10th over, Umran Malik bowled a 147kph short-length delivery from round the wicket and the Sri Lanka batter looked to angle it down to the third man. However, he was beaten by pace and only managed to inside edge the ball onto the stumps.

Earlier, India National Cricket Team won the toss and opted to bowl first in the match. They made two changes to the playing XI, with one being a forced one. Debutant Rahul Tripathi replaced injured Sanju Samson and star left-arm seamer Arshdeep Singh replaced medium-pacer Harshal Patel.

Sri Lanka National Cricket Team, on the other hand, made no changes to the playing XI and captain Dasun Shanaka told that they anyway wanted to bat first because teams batting first have a better record at the MCA Stadium.
