KL Rahul, who was recently removed from the vice-captaincy role in the Indian team, came out to bat at No.5 after the dismissal of Shreyas Iyer in the 30th over.
Rahul batted very well and looked good out in the middle. However, he failed to convert a good start into a good score and he fell 11 runs short of a half-century. He scored 39 runs off 29 balls, including 4 fours and 1 six. He batted with a strike rate of 134.48, before being cleaned up by Rajitha on the 5th ball of the 41st over.

The Sri Lanka pacer bowled a slower good length ball to Rahul that pitched outside leg-stump. The fine-leg fielder was stationed inside the circle and Rahul looked to ramp it over the fielder. However, he missed his shot and got bowled around his legs.
India Complete 300 Runs In 244 Balls
India lost the toss and were invited to bat first in the match. India’s new opening pair of Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill provided the side with an excellent start in the match.
Gill scored 70 runs off 60 balls, with 11 fours, and he also had a 143-run partnership in 118 balls with the Indian skipper. While, Rohit Sharma played an attacking brand of cricket and smashed brilliant 83 runs off 67 balls, with 9 fours and 3 sixes.
Then, Virat Kohli showcased a batting masterclass and added good runs with Shreyas Iyer and Rahul. India reached 200 runs in 162 balls and 300 runs in 244 balls.
