India and Sri Lanka last faced each other in Asia Cup 2022. During the super 12 round, Sri Lanka gave a big blow to India by defeating them by 6 wickets in the match. As a result, India also failed to reach Asia Cup 2022 final. Later, Sri Lanka also won the final after defeating Pakistan in the final.
Hardik Pandya was adamant about beating Sri Lanka in the first T20I and he stood firm on his words. He scored a crucial 29 with the bat and encouraged his players to deliver match-winning performances.
India’s performance in the first T20I was almost clinical barring the performance of Sanju Samson. Despite getting an early life, he failed to make the most of his opportunity. Heading into the second T20I, India are likely to keep the same XI despite Sanju not scoring. They might change the XI after securing the series in Pune.
