India takes on Sri Lanka in the third and final ODI in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday, January 15. The Men in Blue have already won the series by winning the first two games. Sri Lanka needs to win the final ODI to avoid a clean sweep. The series kickstarted the preparations for the ODI World Cup for both teams.

India won the second ODI on the back of KL Rahul‘s matured 64 off 103 balls that helped India chase down a target of 216 inside 44 overs. Hardik Pandya and Axar Patel came up with crucial contributions as well. Before India’s batting effort, Kuldeep Yadav and Mohammed Siraj picked up three wickets each to bowl out Sri Lanka for a below-par total.

Having clinched the series, there are reports that the team management will look to make multiple changes in the XI. Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav are yet to get a game in the series. Reports further say that Kuldeep Yadav might have to make way for Yuzvendra Chahal in the third game if the latter is fit to make the XI. Chahal missed the previous match due to a shoulder injury.

Rohit will continue to open the batting. After scoring 83 in the first ODI, he fell cheaply in the second for just 17. Rohit has not been included for the T20I series against the Kiwis. He struggled to score runs across formats in 2022 scoring 249 runs in 8 ODIs last year.
