India and Sri Lanka last played in the Asia Cup 2022. The Lankans defeated India in the Super 4 stage to knock them out of the competition. Eventually, they went on to win the tournament last year. Sri Lanka toured India in 2022 as well for a three-match T20I series and two-match Test series. India whitewashed their opponents in both formats.

India have started the series on a winning note and took the first step towards avenging the Asia Cup defeat. It was a complete team performance with the lesser-known players chipping in for the victory.
