India and Sri Lanka last faced each other in Asia Cup 2022. During the super 12 round, Sri Lanka gave a big blow to India by defeating them by 6 wickets in the match. As a result, India also failed to reach Asia Cup 2022 final. Later, Sri Lanka also won the final after defeating Pakistan in the final.

However, since the Asia Cup, Sri Lanka has not won much. They qualified for the T20 World Cup but endured a forgetful event losing Super 12 games to Australia, New Zealand, and eventual champions England to bow out of the tournament.

Heading into this series, Sri Lanka played an ODI series against Afghanistan in November 2022. The series ended in a 1-1 tie. Afghanistan won the 1st ODI by 60 runs while Sri Lanka won the 3rd ODI by 4 wickets.

The 2nd ODI was washed out due to rain. The loss against Afghanistan was an eye-opener for a Lankan side that recently won the Asia Cup.  Up against known rivals, in this article, we predict Sri Lanka’s likely playing XI for the first T20I.
