Sri Lanka takes on India in the third and final ODI on Sunday, January 15. They have already lost the series and are now staring at a clean sweep. They must win the third ODI to avoid being swept over by the Indian team. Earlier they lost the T20I series 2-1. The ODI series kickstarted preparations for both teams for the ODI World Cup later this year.

Both teams have announced their squads for the series. Rohit Sharma is the captain of India in the ODI series. Hardik Pandya lead the team in the T20Is with the senior players rested. He is the vice-captain for the ODI series. The likes of Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, and KL Rahul returned to the Indian ODI side for the three-match series.

For Sri Lanka, Dasun Shanaka is the captain of the team in both the ODI and T20I series. Their squad is much the same that they had in the T20I series. It is very inexperienced with only Kusal Mendis and Dhananjaya de Silva playing over 50 ODIs.
The side was totally outplayed in the previous ODI. Sri Lanka only managed to score 215 in the previous score with Nuwanidu Fernando scoring 50 on debut. None of the other batters managed to score anything substantial. The bowlers then hardly had any runs to play with as eventually they lost the game and the series.

The side is struggling with injury concerns. Pathum Nissanka (stiff back) and Dilshan Madushanka (shoulder injury) missed the second ODI due to injury and are likely to miss the final ODI as well. Sri Lanka can bring back Maheesh Theekshana into the playing XI in place of Dunith Wellalage who bowled just two overs in the previous game.
