Cricket Australia chief executive Nick Hockley has said that he would love to see Tim Paine play again for his state as well as for Australia National Cricket Team.

Former Australia captain Tim Paine stepped down from the role just 3 weeks before the Ashes 2021-22 following his involvement in a sexting scandal and he also decided to take a mental-health break and Pat Cummins was appointed as the new captain of Australia in the purest format of the game.

Previously Australia Men’s Cricket Head Coach Justin Langer has said that Tim Paine’s Test career is not over and he could still make a comeback and play for Australia again.

Meanwhile, Hockley has said that he wants to see Paine make a comeback in cricket as soon as possible. He said:

“Would love to see him play again, for both his state and for Australia, We want to see him back out there, playing and performing, as quickly as possible.”

Cricket Tasmania chair Andrew Gaggin has criticised Cricket Australia for their approach towards Paine and said:

“At a time when CA should have supported Tim, he was evidently regarded as dispensable. The treatment afforded to the Australian Test captain by Cricket Australia has been appalling, and the worst since Bill Lawry over 50 years ago.”

However, Hockley has said that everyone is concerned about Tim Paine and will make sure that he gets proper support during the tough times. He asserted:

“The head coach has been down to see him, we’ve had members of our high performance set up go down to Tassie. The Tasmanian cricket community have put their arms around him, We are all very, very concerned – to make sure that Tim is well supported. A lot of respect for Tim for owning his mistake and our job now is to really support him.”

CA CEO also mentioned that it was Paine’s decision to quit the captaincy but the board also felt that it was an appropriate decision.
