The bowlers have enjoyed a great outing in the year 2021 as far as Test Cricket is concerned. The fans witnessed some great contests throughout the year. India played against England at home and against New Zealand in the World Test Championship final.

Pakistan played against Zimbabwe and West Indies. We also saw some incredible bowling performances in the two-match Test series between England and New Zealand.

Some of them have picked wickets consistently and made heads turn in all the series that they have been part of. India are currently taking on New Zealand in a two-match Test series at home.

New Zealand’s star in the making, Kyle Jamieson continues to impress each and everyone with his fast bowling exploits. Axar Patel, who is playing his fourth Test, produced another master-class performance with the ball on Saturday.

1. Hasan Ali

Hasan Ali was at the receiving end of a lot of criticism for his underwhelming performances in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. He failed to hit the straps, enduring forgettable performances with the ball.

However, he has been sensational this year as far as his Test performances are concerned. Hasan Ali has played 7 Tests for Pakistan this year and has managed to pick as many as 37 wickets at an impressive average of 15.40.

In the ongoing first Test against Bangladesh, Pakistan bundled out the former for 330 runs in the first innings. Hasan Ali, once again, starred with the ball as he picked five wickets for just 51 runs in 20.4 overs.

Notably, it was Hasan Ali’s fifth five-wicket haul this year. In the earlier Test series against West Indies, he picked 6 wickets in 2 matches at 26.33.

Pakistan also played a two-match Test series against Zimbabwe this year. Hasan Ali was the highest wicket-taker for Pakistan in that series. He claimed 14 wickets in 2 matches at 8.93. He picked as many as two five-wicket hauls in that series.

Axar Patel, yet again, made headlines on Saturday for exhibiting a brilliant bowling performance in a Test match this year. In just 4 matches, he has managed to pick 32 wickets.

In the ongoing Test between India and New Zealand, Axar Patel picked five for 62 to help India bundle out New Zealand for 296 runs. For those who don’t know, it was his 5th five-wicket haul in just 7 innings in Test Cricket.

It has been nothing short of a dream start for Axar Patel. He was brilliant in the Test series against England earlier this year. He made a dream debut in that series. He played three matches in the series and picked as many as 27 wickets at an average of 10.59. Axar Patel picked 4 five-wickets hauls in those three games.

3. Ravi Ashwin

India’s premier spinner in Test Cricket, Ravi Ashwin continues to showcase masterclass performances in 2021 in Test Cricket. He picked wickets consistently in all the matches he played this year. Ravi Ashwin was phenomenal in the home Test series against England.

He was the highest wicket-taker in the series, picking 32 wickets in 4 matches at 14.72. Ashwin picked three five-wicket hauls in that series. He would be disappointed to not get the chance of playing any Test when India tour England.

In the ongoing series against New Zealand, Ashwin picked 3 for 82 in 42.3 overs in the second innings of the first Test, Overall, he has picked the most wickets by any bowler in Test Cricket this year. In 7 matches, he has managed to pick 41 wickets, including 3 five-wicket hauls.

4. Kyle Jamieson

New Zealand have unearthed a new gem in Kyle Jamieson. He has been making heads turn through his exceptional bowling performances in Test Cricket. The tall fast bowler doesn’t have the express pace but makes good use of his height and bowl at the right areas consistently.

Jamieson loves playing against India. He has picked a lot of wickets against India across formats since making his debut in international cricket. He was outstanding in the World Test Championship final for New Zealand against India. Jamieson picked a five-for in the first innings to bundle out India for 217 runs.

Jamieson has played 4 Tests this year and has managed to pick 25 wickets at an average of 15.60. The New Zealand fast bowler picked three five-wicket hauls in 2021.
