Syed Abid Ali was a cricketer who played in the 1970s era and he was one of the all-rounders who made significant contributions with the bat in longer formats. He played 29 tests and 5 ODIs for India in his short limited career and had a terrific first-class career as well covering up two decades.

His last ODI game was held in Manchester in the 1975 Prudential World cup against New Zealand and he scored a brilliant 70 off 98 balls in the middle order to take India to a decent score on the board. However, Glenn Turner’s century helped New Zealand win the game comfortably.
