Former Indian skipper Virat Kohli has come back to form since the Asia Cup 2022. He broke his century drought by first scoring his maiden T20I ton against Afghanistan. He then scored three ODI centuries in a space of a few games starting with his first against Bangladesh. It was in the same match that Ishan Kishan scored his maiden double ton.

In 2023, in the ODI series against Sri Lanka, Kohli scored two centuries. He scored 113 in the first ODI and then scored 166 in the third ODI. Shubman Gill scored his maiden ODI double ton in the third ODI against the Lankans and joined an elite list of Indian batters.

In between the ODIs and the Tests was the T20 World Cup 2022 where Kohli ended up as the highest run-getter scoring 295 runs. Though India did not reach the final, Kohli made his in the tournament.

It is in Test cricket that Kohli has to find his mojo. He scored a good-looking 44 in the first innings of the second in Delhi. However, with still two Tets matches still to go in the Border-Gavaskar series, Kohli has still time to break the deadlock. Meanwhile, in this article, we take a look at five batters who will dominate all three formats just like Viirat Kohli did in the last decade.

Brook has taken international cricket by storm especially in Test cricket scoring four tons in just six matches. In the second Test against New Zealand, he scored an unbeaten 184 on the opening day of the Test match.

He has just played three ODIs so far with a best score of 80 and 20 T20Is with a best score of 87 in ODIs. He has been a consistent scorer in all formats in his limited career so far and seems to be an all-format player.

Brevis came to light in the U-19 World Cup in West Indies. He became a breakout player in the tournament scoring 506 runs in six games and becoming the top-scorer in the tournament. He has p[layed across various T20 leagues in the world and also in the IPL.

He is a sweet striker of the ball and is often compared to former South African skipper AB De Villiers. He is yet to make his international debut for his nation but certainly has the ingredients to become an all-format batter.

Mohammad Haris

Pakistan wicket-keeper batsman Mohammad Haris is one of the upcoming batters from Pakistan. He has played four ODIs and five T20Is so far in his career and an upcoming batter from India’s neighboring country.

He is currently playing for Peshawar Zalmi in the PSL. He played a few cameos in the T20 World Cup helping Pakistan to make the final and certainly one to look forward to in the future.

India’s very own Shubman Gill seems ready to take up the mantle from Virat Kohli for his country. Having started his international career rather slowly, he has picked up his pace. The right-hander scored 638 runs in ODIs in 2022 and has already scored 567 in just six matches in 2021 so far. He has also recently scored hundreds in T20Is and Test matches showing the class that he possesses.

Having regularly scored over 400 runs in the IPL since making his debut in 2018, Gill also won the IPL title with Gujarat Titans in IPL 2022. He is well and truly ready to dominate all three formats like Kohli.

Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi have played a big role in bringing Afghanistan cricket to the World map. Rahmanullah Gurbaz is the first out-and-out batter from the nation to make headlines in international cricket.

He has played in leagues like the PSL and the BBL and has tasted success in international cricket as well. One assumes he and Najibullah Zadran to take the mantle of batting for Afghanistan in all three formats in the next decade.
