Tom Latham is an integral cog in New Zealand’s batting unit. He is currently the vice-captain of the team in Test Cricket. His flawless technique makes him an ideal candidate for an opener in Test Cricket. Latham is known as someone who grinds out with the new ball and tires out the opposition in the process.

He played an outstanding 95-run knock in the first innings against India during the first of the two Tests in Kanpur. This was followed by a crucial 52 off 146, which helped the team salvage a draw. In the absence of Kane Williamson, Latham was given the responsibility to lead the side in the second Test.

Unfortunately, he couldn’t make useful contributions with the bat and New Zealand went on to lose the Test by a big margin of 372 runs.

Tom Latham is currently one of the best batsmen in the New Zealand Test batting line-up. He has played 60 Tests so far for New Zealand and has managed to score 4203 runs at an average of 42.
