England vs India 2021: Tremendously Disappointing For All The Cricket Fans - Mark Butcher

Former England cricketer Mark Butcher stated that it was a real shame for the series between England and India to end abruptly the way it did. He felt the fans would be extremely disappointed considering the series was poised perfectly.
The 5th Test, due to be held in Manchester, was cancelled following India’s inability to field a team. Although there were a few confusions regarding the official result of the match, the series, for now, stands at 2-1 in favour of the visitors. Speaking about the unfortunate ending, Mark Butcher said:
“Tremendously disappointing for all the cricket fans. It’s been an incredible series. India are a fantastic team and they’ve given England a run for their money in their home conditions. Everybody wanted to see how this one was going to pan out.”
“There are also other factors to think of. People will be talking about the fact that the IPL restarts in UAE on the 19th and any postponement of the Test match would push the Indian players and English players that are involved in there.”
“Absolute shame that the series won’t play out the way it was meant to” – Mark Butcher
Butcher further asserted that the players would be wary of the consequences should they test positive a few days prior to the IPL 2021. He expressed his sympathy for the Indian players who have been living in bio-bubbles for the majority of the year.
“It’s an absolute shame that this series isn’t gonna play out the way it was meant to. There is a little bit of sympathy for Indian players, most of them have been on the road since before the Australia series over Christmas and New Year.”
It was infeasible for the BCCI to postpone the series since the IPL is scheduled to commence in the UAE from September 19.
