Anju Jain has been appointed as the head coach of Bangladesh's women cricket team.

Former India women wicket-keeper, Anju Jain, will replace David Capel as the head coach of the Bangladesh women’s team.

The ongoing tour to South Africa, which includes five ODIs and three T20Is will be David’s last assignment with the side.

Anju Jain was the former India wicketkeeper-batswoman.

The Bangladesh women’s national side has currently put all their focus on qualifying for the Women’s World T20 to be played in the West Indies in November.

Jain will take on the challenge on a six-month contract while the other details are yet to be announced. She will take over her new role from May 21st onwards, the day Bangladesh side returns from the rainbow nation.

Jain will also look forward to meeting her ex-Indian colleagues, Devika Palshikar and Anuja Dalvi, who are currently working as assistant coach and Physiotherapist, respectively.

Jain braces the challenge

Jain says it is an exciting opportunity, as it is a whole different challenge to be associated, as the coach of a national side.

“An opportunity to coach a national team at this stage is quite exciting,” Jain told ESPNcricinfo.

“At this moment, the biggest challenge is to help the team qualify for the Women’s World T20 in West Indies. There is talent, but you need to give them games. Our primary responsibility as a coaching group will be to ensure they develop the finer skill sets, and that will come with experience.”

BCB puts the plan in place

The BCB has also chalked out a ten-day tour to Ireland to prepare for the mega event. They aren’t taking the tournament lightly and wants to get ready for the games beforehand.

Bangladesh had lost all of their four matches last time in the year 2016. They have been fitted with Ireland, Papua New Guinea, Scotland, Netherlands, Uganda, Thailand and United Arab Emirates.

The two teams from the qualifying round will join the top eight in the World T20.
