Australia legend Mike Hussey believes Rohit Sharma has the ability and temperament to excel in the hostile Australian conditions. The India opener will be one of the players to watch out for if the Test series between India and Australia goes ahead as scheduled.

After being in and out of the Test team for years, Rohit Sharma seems to have finally cemented his spot following a stunning show when promoted as opener last year. He was promoted during the home series against South Africa and he made an instant impact.

In his first Test as opener, he scored a century in both the innings before scoring a double century in the same series. Unfortunately, he missed the two games in New Zealand due to a calf injury as India lost both the games. Rohit Sharma has already proved himself in limited-overs cricket in Australia and will be keen to deliver in Tests too.

A good show with the bat in the testing conditions of Australia will pretty much seal his spot in the Test side. And Mike Hussey believes the India star has got what it needs to excel in the Australian conditions.

“It’s going to test any batsman in the world, but I think because he’s (Rohit) played a lot of One-Day cricket batting at the top of the order, and now he’s been having some success with the red ball game as well, that’ll give him confidence coming in,” Mike Hussey was quoted as saying by PTI.

“I have no doubt in my mind that he’s got the ability and the skill and the temperament, to be able to handle it,” he added.

The former Australia left-handed batsman said the key for Rohit Sharma would be adaptability to the Australian conditions.

“I think he would adapt. No, worries at all of his batting at the top of the order. It will be challenging in Australian conditions against the top quality bowling attack with pace and bounce,” Hussey said.
