To add further misery, India didn’t get off to a great start, however, Virat Kohli returned to form with a vital 51-run knock off 41 balls. Later, Rishabh Pant (52 off 38) and Venkatesh Iyer (33 off 18) stitched a vital 76-run partnership to guide India to a formidable score of 186 runs in the first innings. For West Indies, once again, it was Roston Chase who came up with a sensational spell of 3 for 25 runs in 4 overs.

In pursuit of tha total, West Indies too didn’t get off a to great start, having lost both the openers for 59 runs in 8.3 overs. However, Nicholas Pooran and Rovman Powell then led a sensational recovery. The duo didn’t allow India to take any wicket for the next 10 overs and took the game as deep as possible.

As for the Indian bowling attack, the spinners were once again brilliant. Yuzvendra Chahal was used in the power play overs. He returned with figures of 1 for 31 in 4 overs, while Ravi Bishnoi conceded 1 for 30 in his four overs. Bhuvneshwar Kumar (1 for 29) also was brilliant both in the powerplay as well as death overs.
