Ishan Kishan, who kept wickets for the Indian team in absence of Rishabh Pant in the third T20I between India and West Indies, showed his skills with the gloves, as he took a brilliant diving catch of a skier to send back Nicholas Pooran, who scored his third fifty in as many games and was looking dangerous as the game drew closer to the finish.

In the chase of 185 runs to avoid a follow-on, Deepak Chahar removed both the West Indies openers Kyle Mayers and Shai Hope for single-digit scores, before going off the field with an injury. Then Nicholas Pooran and Rovman Powell came together and took apart Avesh Khan, who was making his debut.

They added 47 runs in just 4 overs before Rohit Sharma brought in Harshal Patel into the attack and he removed Powell for 25 in 14 balls with 2 fours and 2 sixes. However, Nicholas Pooran was still at the crease and starting to hit out.

Kieron Pollard won the toss and chose to bowl first. Indian innings, started on a wrong note, with Ruturaj Gaikwad falling for 4 runs. But then Ishan Kishan (35 with 5 fours) and Shreyas Iyer (25 in 16 balls with 4 fours) added 53 runs for the second wicket. However, the two got out in quick succession and then captain Rohit Sharma joined them after making just 7 runs.

Suryakumar Yadav and Venkatesh Iyer came together and added 91 runs in 37 balls including 42 runs in the last two overs as India posted 184/5 in 20 overs. Suryakumar got out on the last ball of the innings for 65 in 31 balls with 1 four and 7 sixes, while Iyer remained unbeaten on 35 in 19 with 4 fours and 2 sixes.

Nicholas Pooran Gets Out For 61 Runs Thanks To An Excellent Diving Catch By Ishan Kishan

As written earlier, Pooran was still at the crease looking to get going as West Indies looking to increase their run rate. However, on the first ball of the 18th over, Shardul Thakur bowled it slower and wide outside Pooran’s off-stump and the Windies vice-captain trying to hit it towards, off, managed to sky it high in the air.

With the ball moving away, keeper Ishan Kishan called for it early, following it in the Kolkata night sky, and then took an excellent catch while diving with the ball, with Pooran going back for 61 in 47 balls with 8 fours and 1 six.
