Pakistan will take on West Indies in the second of the three-match T20 International series on Tuesday. The National Stadium in Karachi will host the important clash.

Pakistan has been in blistering form as far as T20 cricket is concerned. They exhibited stellar performances in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 and managed to reach the semi-finals. Unfortunately, they couldn’t lift the title.

Babar Azam and Co. then whitewashed Bangladesh 3-0 in a T20 series in Bangladesh. Pakistan would be looking to continue the winning momentum and replicate a similar performance in the upcoming series against West Indies at home.

The Men in Green have made some notable changes to their squad. Players such as Shoaib Malik, M Hafeez, Imad Wasim, Sarfaraz Ahmed and Hasan Ali have also been rested for the series. Babar Azam will continue to lead the side. The team would, once again, be banking on him and M Rizwan to score the bulk of the runs. The middle-order though has great potential, having got the likes of Fakhar Zaman, Haider Ali, and Iftikhar Ahmed.

Shadab Khan will lead the spin attack, while the fast bowling unit consists of Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, and M Hasnain to name a few.

West Indies, on the other hand, are playing with a depleted squad. Most of the senior players have opted out of the tour. The likes of E Lewis, Chris Gayle, S Hetmyer and L Simmons, Andre Russell, etc. will miss out in the series. Skipper Kieron Pollard is ruled out due to a hamstring injury. In his absence, Nicholas Pooran will take over the captaincy duties.

Add to that, three players who were part of the squad, namely Sheldon Cottrell, Roston Chase, and Kyle Mayers, have tested positive and thus are ruled out of the series. In the batting department, the onus would be on the likes of Brandon King, Shai Hope, and Darren Bravo, and Nicholas Pooran.

All four are talented batsmen and it will be interesting to see how they fare in the series. West Indies have included some exciting all-rounders such as Dominic Drakes, Romario Shepherd, and Odean Smith.

All three can contribute significantly with both bat and ball. The trio impressed one and all in the CPL 2021 and it will be interesting to see if they can replicate those performances in the upcoming T20 series against West Indies.

The pitch at National Stadium in Karachi is a great surface to bat on. The ball is likely to come nicely on to the bat and thus one could expect a high-scoring game on Tuesday. Having said that, the spinners are also likely to get some help as the match progresses. Also, with the game starting early in the evening, the due isn’t likely to trouble a lot.
