Pakistan skipper and prolific batter, Babar Azam, will have the chance to become only the 11th batter from his country to score 10,000 runs across all formats in international cricket.

So far, the 27-year-old has played 200 matches in all 3 formats and has scored 9,798 runs at a mighty impressive average of 50.76. He has been going through a purple patch of late and will have a chance to reach the milestone against the West Indies in the upcoming 3-match ODI series.

If he does go past the mark, he will be joining the likes of Mohammad Yousuf, Javed Miandad, Saleem Malik, Saeed Anwar, Mohammad Hafeez, Shoaib Malik, Shahid Afridi, Misbah-ul-Haq, Younis Khan, and Inzamam-ul-Haq as the only others to do so.

“I am looking forward to the fans cheering the return of international cricket” – Babar Azam

The series will mark the return of fans to the stadiums in Pakistan and Babar couldn’t be more delighted to be playing in Multan. The series was originally scheduled to be played in Rawalpindi but was altered due to political issues.

It is a really exciting moment for me to lead Pakistan in Multan for this all-important series. Multan is home to passionate cricket fans and it is great to be here.

I am looking forward to the fans cheering the return of international cricket after a lengthy gap, and I am sure they will get to see some great cricket at the beautiful Multan Cricket Stadium,” Babar said prior to the start of the series.

There are plenty of Cricket World Cup Super League points at stake and both teams will be keen to bag the points when the series gets underway on June 8.
