While skipper Meg Lanning was the top scorer of the match between Delhi Capitals Women and Mumbai Indians Women in match 7 of the Women’s Premier League 2023, the star batter was not satisfied with her knock.

Despite a 43-run knock from Meg Lanning, no other batter from the Capitals could leave their mark on the game as the side collapsed with just 105 runs on the board in 18 overs. Lanning tried to play the anchor role but did not get any support from her fellow teammates who kept losing wickets at regular intervals.

After Meg Lanning’s dismissal, Capitals collapsed like a deck of cards with Mumbai having no big trouble chasing down the total as their batters took just 15 overs to win the game by 8 wickets.

WPL 2023: Meg Lanning Refuses To Blame Anyone But Herself

The Delhi Capitals skipper Meg Lanning was disappointed with her knock in the game as she believed she could have played better in those conditions and guided her team better. She praised Jemimah Rodrigues for her intent and hopes the team can get back to winning ways.

“To be honest, we were in a similar position at the 12th over mark. I take the blame upon myself. I took a lot of balls upfront and we failed to finish on a high.”

“There was a bit of help for the bowlers which is a good thing because we don’t always want a flat track. They bowled beautifully. You can’t eye 180 from the start. You have to build the blocks and get there. It’s nice learning and we will learn from these mistakes and get back in the next game.

“I thought Rodrigues came out and played aggressively to swing back the momentum towards us. Hopefully, I can keep contributing and we have a few wins for us.”

Meg Lanning and her side will now face Gujarat Giants Women on the 11th of March in their fourth game of the tournament. Gujarat won their last fixture and will be eager to get an upset win over Delhi.
