DC Women’s Jemimah Rodrigues showed off her fielding prowess with a stunning catch in her team’s latest match against MI Women in WPL 2023.
With the fate of the tabletop position possibly on the line, DC won the toss and decided to bowl first in the Dr. DY Patil Stadium. In the fourth over of Mumbai’s innings, opener Hayley Matthews played a shot towards mid-wicket. Jemimah Rodrigues ran towards the ball in the air and dove for an absolute screamer. Making the score 10/3 for Harmanpreet Kaur’s team and putting them in danger.

MI Women put up an underwhelming score of 109/8
At the end of their innings against DC Women, Harmanpreet Kaur’s MI have put up a meagre total of 109/8 in their allotted 20 overs.
Having been put to bat first by Delhi, the Mumbai Indians lost their top order fairly cheaply. With the score 10/3 at the end of 4 overs, it was upon the team’s experienced middle order to stable the rocking boat. Captain Kaur, Pooja Vastrakar and, Issy Wong scored 20+ runs each to drag their side to over 100 runs.
Credit is due to DC’s balling attack, who bowled economic spells and took frequent wickets. Marizanne Kapp, Shikha Pandey, and Jess Jonassen took 2-wickets each.
Even with the dismal score, MI will be looking to win the match at hand to confirm their place in the final of WPL 2023. Having won 5 out of 6 of their matches, the Mumbai franchise is sitting comfortably on top of the table. If they beat the odds and win their match tonight, they will go to 12 points with one match to spare.
In the 2023 season of WPL, the team that finishes on top of the table automatically qualifies for the final, with the 2nd and 3rd placed teams playing an eliminator.
Along with MI and DC, UP Warriorz have also confirmed a place in the playoffs with their win against Gujrat Giants earlier today.
