It was a near-perfect match for MI Women where they dominated the terms from the word go. The all-round performance of Nat Sciver-Brunt proved to be decisive as earlier, she scored a terrific knock of 72 runs in 38 balls & later took the massive wicket of Grace Harris & gave away 21 runs in her 3-over spell.

UP Warriorz were the silent assassin in the WPL 2023 where they surprised the opponent with their crisp stroke. MI Women now would sense that they can be the champions as the way they have played, they made a statement that they are no longer dependent on a particular individual and we can expect an enthralling WPL 2023 final between MI Women & DC Women on the 26th March (*Sunday).

We backed ourselves with the ball in hand- Alyssa Healy

During the post-match presentation, UP Warriorz skipper Alyssa Healy was asked about her decision to bowl first & the team’s performance.

“We catch Sciver on 6, the game could be ours. We backed ourselves with the ball in hand. Can’t comment too much, and will probably be fined (the catch from Anjali that was given not out). Anjali claimed it, and it looked good in real-time. Our strength in this whole tournament has been we’ve hung in there.” said Alyssa Healy.

We haven’t played our best cricket- Alyssa Healy

“We haven’t played our best cricket. I’m really proud of this group. No one was talking about the UP Warriors (as favourites). The two best teams have made it to the final. I’m proud of our group to have a crack. It’s not all about lifting the trophy. Some areas we’ll need to fix up. What we’ve got is something special at our franchise. There’s so many talented players in our group and Kiran is one of them.” she added.
