MI Women asserted their dominance over RCB Women in WPL 2023. MI Women won the match by 4 wickets where there was a little bit of drama at the end but MI Women won it comfortably. MI Women skipper Harmanpreet Kaur had a forgettable outing where she scored 2 runs in 5 balls. Harmanpreet Kaur would be mightily pleased with this performance where they outclassed RCB Women in all the 3 facets of the game.

RCB Women skipper Smriti Mandhana’s tactics were quite questionable when she bowled the 17th over where MI Women required 6 runs to win with only 4 wickets in hand. At the same time, the field placings were also questionable where she allowed the batters to rotate the strike.

Amelia Kerr’s all-round performance helped MI Women as while bowling she took 3 scalps & later played an unbeaten match-winning knock of 31 runs in 27 balls where she struck 4 fours. MI Women skipper Harmanpreet Kaur would be considering promoting Amelia to the No.3 position where she can bat deep & play the role of anchor.

RCB Women would be utterly disappointed with the way they ended their tournament. RCB Women batters looked in two minds whether to attack or defend where they got into the shell. RCB Women perhaps need to change their batting positions from the next season as not a single batter scored 30-odd runs against MI Women which is unacceptable in modern cricket.

During the post-match presentation, Harmanpreet Kaur was asked about the win & team’s performance.

“Winning is always important to get the momentum going. When you lose, it can be negative feelings. But everyone was talking how to win this. In the last two games, we were not able to do what we trying to do. But we discussed today as to how to go about it.” said Harmanpreet Kaur.

“For us, winning the game was important. When we got a good start, we were trying to chase it down inside 15 overs. After losing my wicket, we played a little sensibly. Amelia is always keen to do well for the team. She always wants to do well for the team.” she said.
