DC Women continued their winning run & defeated UP Warriorz by 5 wickets. DC Women hunted the target of 139 runs in 17.5 overs. Skipper Meg Lanning played a blistering cameo of 39 runs in 23 balls where she struck 5 fours & 2 sixes. Meg Lanning has the knack of playing an anchor role as well as being the destroyer in chief which is priceless in modern cricket.

DC Women now have qualified for the final of WPL 2023. They have gone past MI Women’s NRR (net run rate ) of +1.71 and have an NRR of +1.85. It was a collective performance from DC Women where everyone chipped in. Alice Capsey’s all-round performance, in the end, proved to be decisive where she took 3 wickets earlier & then played a knock of 34 runs in 31 balls where she struck 4 fours & 1 six.

UP Warriorz looked scratchy from the word go as at one stage they were in a precarious position at 92-4 in 15 overs. Tahlia McGrath unleashed the attack on the opposition where she scored 58 runs in 32 balls & struck 8 fours and 2 sixes. UP Warriorz would be slightly worried as their middle order got exposed.

DC Women almost made a mess of the run chase but would be happy as it was a complete team performance in both departments of the game. Skipper Meg Lanning would be hoping that the rising batter Jemimah Rodrigues rediscovers her mojo as she has looked a bit off-colour

During the post-match presentation, Meg Lanning was asked about the team’s performance.

“Just wanted the team to win and help the unit. I don’t think we were at our best. We were sloppy on the field. Was a reasonable wicket. We got off to a flier and helped us when it started to turn.” said Meg Lanning.

“It seemed it came nicely with the new ball. They bowled a fair bit of spin towards the back end. We got some depth in batting. We have one big game to go. Hopefully, we will nail that. We will rest for a couple of days before the big game.” she added.
