Delhi Capitals Women registered a resounding victory over UP Warriorz. DC Women won the match by 5 wickets & chased down the target of 139 runs in 17.5 overs. With this win, DC Women have topped the points table with 12 points in 8 matches with an NRR (net run rate) of +1.85  & have gone past MI Women’s NRR of +1.71. DC Women have directly qualified for WPL 2023 final which is scheduled on 26th March.

DC Women batters came out all guns blazing as they scored 67 runs in the powerplay overs for the loss of 1 wicket.  It was a collective effort from DC Women batters where they asserted their dominance. Meg Lanning gave the team a rollicking start as she scored 39 runs in 23 balls where she smashed 5 fours & 2 sixes. Alice Capsey played an invaluable knock of 34 runs in 31 balls where she struck 4 fours & 1 six.

Alice Capsey, the right-arm bowler was the wrecker in chief where she took 3 wickets in her 4-over spell & gave away 26 runs.UP Warriorz batters were clueless against the spinners in the middle overs. Tahlia McGrath played a terrific knock of 58 runs in 32 balls where she struck 8 fours & 2 sixes. Tahlia couldn’t get ample support from the rest of the batters where a score in excess of 150 would have been competitive.

DC Women were ruthless in all the 3 facets of the game. The speciality of DC Women is that they have a lot of match-winners present in the team & at the same time the captaincy of Meg Lanning has been spot on. UP Warriorz on the other side would be looking for a quick turnaround as now they are going to face MI Women on 24th March (*Friday) in an eliminator.
