ZIM vs PAK: Tri-Series 4th T20I: Twitter Reacts as Zimbabwe Posts a Fighting Score
Updated - 10 Jan 2019, 12:15 AM
Zimbabwe was able to put a fighting score of 162 on the board against Pakistan in the fourth match of the ongoing T20I series. The hosts who had struggled to get going in the series came up with their best batting performance.
Zimbabwean opener Solomon Mire scored a fine 94 off just 63 balls. The right-hander scored six fours and as many sixes in his blistering knock. In fact, Mire’s 94 is the highest individual score for Zimbabwe in the shortest format of the game.
Interestingly, Pakistan has never conceded a century in T20Is.
Furthermore, Tarisai Musakanda provided the finishing touches to the Zimbabwe innings. The right-hander scored 33 off just 22 balls.
Thus, this performance must have given a shot in the arm to the Zimbabwean team. They had lost the first two matches by a huge margin. Thus, the ongoing match is a must-win for the home side.
On the other hand, Pakistan’s bowlers Mohammad Amir, Faheem Ashraf, Shadab Khan and Hussain Talat scalped one wicket each. Sarfraz Ahmed won the toss and decided to put the hosts into bat.
Meanwhile, Zimbabwean bowlers will now have to deliver the goods to keep them breathing the tri-series.
On the other hand, the world number one team in the format will back themselves to achieve a target of 163. However, Pakistan can be vulnerable at times with their batting line-up.
Thus, it is a good opportunity for Hamilton Masakadza side to get off the mark in the series. However, their bowlers will have their work cut out.
Here is how Twitter reacted to Zimbabwe innings:
Pakistan have never conceded a century in T20Is. Solomon Mire’s 94 today is the highest score by any batsman against them beating 91 by Evin Lewis last year. #ZIMvPAK
