Former Indian Players in Line to Coach Teams in Mumbai T20 League

Former India players like Vinod Kambli, Lalchand Rajput and Balwinder Singh Sandhu can very well be part of the coaching set-up in Mumbai T20 league, as per a report in The Mirror.

The Mumbai T20 league will start next week, and top Indian players are in contention to be part of the coaching set-up.

First talking of Kambli, he had played 104 ODIs and seven Test matches.

He hasn’t coached any side at the professional level, and this will be his first stint as a coach if he takes up the role.

Last year, in an interview with The Indian Express, he had expressed his desire to coach an IPL or any Ranji team. This could very well be the first step in that course.

Coming to Lalchand Rajput, he is presently the coach of Assam Ranji team.

He was also the coach of Afghanistan Cricket team but parted ways with them last year.

He has also been part of the Indian backroom staff in the past. Balwinder Singh Sandhu, who was the part of 1983 World Cup winning side, is also in contention to coach a team. He had played eight Tests, and 22 ODIs, with his last international appearance coming in 1984.

He had coached Mumbai and Punjab in the past.

The Mumbai T20 league will be played from March 11 to 21 at the Wankhede Stadium. A total of six franchises are participating in the league.

A team owner can spend Rs 35 Lakh on players while Rs 15 Lakh can be spent on the coaches.

Many of the Mumbai Ranji Trophy players will be part of the league. The tournament might also have few international players.

Shreyas Iyer and Ajinkya Rahane will be available to play the tournament.

However, Rohit Sharma and Shardul Thakur are a part of the Indian team for the Nidahas Trophy and will not play the league

Prithvi Shaw is a part of the Rest of India squad for Irani Cup and will miss a major part of the league if selected.

It has already been confirmed Arjun Tendulkar will do not play the league, as he has remodelled his action, recently and he needs some time to work on it.

Players who are eligible to play for Mumbai presently and in the coming season are only eligible to be part of the league.
