The Indian U-19 team managed to achieve a special feat on Saturday after comprehensively defeating the Australians by a margin of eight wickets.

This is now their 4th World Cup title in the tournament history. The Indian U-19 team had won the coveted title earlier during their campaign in 2000, 2008, and 2012, respectively.

Manjot Kalra shined during the chase with a flamboyant unbeaten ton (101 off 102 balls) which helped India race past the Australian total of 216. Kalra was supported by Prithvi Shaw and Shubman Gill who put the foot into the accelerator during the key moments in the chase.

In the end, it was Harvik Desai who hammered the final nail in the Australian coffin by hitting the winning runs.

Gill scored a quickfire 30-ball 31 while Harvik Desai smashed a counter-attacking 47 off 61 balls. In the end, it was a cakewalk for the Indian team, much like the rest of the tournament, as they completed the required target in just 38.2 overs.

Shubman Gill was awarded the man of the match while Manjot Kalra received the man of the match award.

The entire squad of the Indian team ran towards the centre of the pitch in jubilation, as they surrounded Kalra and Manjot in the lying middle, gasping for breath.

Here’s the look at the Indian celebration.

Earlier in the evening, the Australians were looking to post a total above 260 with 183 on the board and the loss of just four wickets.

However, due to some impressive spin bowling from Shivam Singh and Anukul Roy, India affected the Australian collapse which resulted in Australians posting a moderate total of 216.

Ishan Porel, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Shivam Singh and Anukul Roy hunted in packs, as they ended up with a couple of wickets each.
