Rahul Chahar is one of the exceptional talents going around in the country at the moment and he is going to be a marquee player if the mega auction takes place. Chahar has been leading the spin attack for the Mumbai Indians and his numbers in the last two years has been too good. However, he might not be retained by the Mumbai Indians.

Only three players can be retained and two can be bought through RTM cards which almost rules him out of the plans of the Mumbai Indians retention contenders if the mega auction takes place. Delhi Capitals:

Delhi Capitals have had Amit Mishra as their best leg spinner in the squad but the veteran is 38 years old and might not be retained. Also, the likes of Axar Patel and R Ashwin are unlikely to be retained as they would want to keep Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant in the ranks for the future.

This will open up the opportunities for Delhi to pick up some more Indian spinners in the squad and Rahul Chahar should be their number one priority with his variations and his numbers in the format. He also adds to their Indian contingent and is pipped as the future of Indian cricket. Delhi should target the youngster if the mega auction takes place.

Sunrisers Hyderabad:

Sunrisers Hyderabad has relied on Rashid Khan excessively and they will need another game-changer in their spin department. Their Indian spin department boasts only of Shahbaz Nadeem and other than him, the spinners have been inexperienced and more of a part-time bowler.

This affected their plans a lot this year and they needed a second spinner desperately to reduce the load on Rashid Khan. They had the likes of Mujeer Ur Rahman and Mohammad Nabi, who affected the balance of the team and Nadeem has had some tough times of late. Bringing in Rahul Chahar might just be the best option for Sunrisers to pair up alongside Rashid Khan and to strengthen their Indian spin contingent.

Rajasthan Royals:

Rajasthan Royals do have a lot of leg spinners in their armoury with the likes of Rahul Tewatia, Shreyas Gopal, and Mayank Markande. Also, Riyan Parag bowls a bit of leg-spin at times, which has been far more ineffective. Gopal and Markande were benched for most of the season while Tewatia could manage just 2 wickets in 7 matches.

This could not be the template for the next year and they will need to strengthen their Indian bowling contingent. With Archer likely to be retained, Chahar could add up to the match-winner list, and other bowlers could just play around them. Rahul Chahar will be a great addition to the Royals squad and they must target the youngster in the mega auction.
