The Pakistan National Cricket Team wicket-keeper Mohammad Rizwan was left fuming after the spinner Usama Mir was hit for back-to-back boundaries at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru in the 18th match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 on Friday, October 20.

Usama Mir is making his ICC Cricket World Cup debut in the match against the Aussies. He replaced the Pakistan vice-captain Shadab Khan in the playing XI, who was dropped from the team following a string of poor performances for an extended period of time.

He was under tremendous pressure after replacing the Pakistan vice-captain in the team and then his confidence took a further hit when he dropped an easy catch of David Warner early on in the innings.

Mir’s low confidence reflected on his bowling too as he was taken to the cleaners by the Australian batters. In his 9 overs, he gave away 82 runs and bagged just one wicket.

During his spell, Mir was smashed for 19 runs in the 33rd over of the innings. David Warner took the bowlers to the cleaners and hit him for back-to-back boundaries.

Warner smashed a four and a six on the second and third delivery of the over and followed it up with back-to-back fours on the fourth and fifth ball respectively. After Mir got smashed for a four on the fifth delivery, wicket-keeper Rizwan looked angry and he shouted at the spinner.

Earlier, Pakistan won the toss and chose to field first. The decision turned out to be a poor one for the side as the Pakistan bowlers were taken to the cleaners by David Warner and Mitchell Marsh.

The duo smashed staggering centuries and added 259 runs for the first wicket. However, after their dismissals, Australia faced a horrible collapse and they kept losing wickets at regular intervals to get restricted to 367/9 in 50 overs.
