Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) owner Sanjiv Goenka was disappointed with his team's batting approach during the recent match against the SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH). Sanjiv Goenka reportedly discussed the LSG batting approach with skipper KL Rahul in an animated chat, as per the Indian Express.

The Lucknow Super Giants suffered a humiliating 10-wicket defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Wednesday, May 8. Sanjiv Goenka engaged in a visibly intense discussion with KL Rahul near the boundary line. The interaction grabbed widespread attention across social media platforms on the internet.

Fans criticized Sanjiv Goenka's behavior towards Rahul as unprofessional, suggesting he should have discussed it privately rather than in public. The KL Rahul-led team is currently in sixth place in the standings with 12 points in 12 matches. They need to win the remaining two games to reach the playoffs.

Sanjiv Goenka Unhappy With LSG Batting Approach

According to a report in the Indian Express, LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka expressed dissatisfaction with the Lucknow team's batting performance in a high-scoring venue. However, the atmosphere seems to have returned to normal within the LSG camp, with Rahul maintaining his routine without any changes.

KL Rahul won the toss and chose to bat first on a batting-friendly surface. However, they struggled to score as they added 27 runs for two wickets in the powerplay. Rahul scored 29 runs off 33 balls before being dismissed by SRH captain Pat Cummins. LSG posted a below-par total of 165/4 in their 20 overs.

SRH opening batters Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma guided the Hyderabad team to chase down a 166-run target in just 9.4 overs. Head and Abhishek scored strike rates of 296.66 and 267.85, respectively, while Rahul's was 87.87. KL Rahul remarked that Sunrisers Hyderabad could have chased even 250 runs.

Am Lost For Words - KL Rahul

After the defeat, KL Rahul described SRH's batting as "unreal." He admitted that he was lost for words after the exceptional hitting skills displayed by SRH batters. Rahul acknowledged that they fell short by 40-50 runs during the batting.

"Am lost for words. We have watched that kind of batting on TV. But this is unreal batting. Everything seemed to find the middle of the bat. Kudos to their skills. They have worked hard on their six-hitting skills. They didn't give us a chance to know what the pitch played in the second innings. Was hard to stop them as they teed off from ball one.

Once you are on the losing side, there are question marks on the decisions taken. We were 40-50 runs short. When we lost wickets in the powerplay, we couldn't get any momentum. Ayush and Nicky batted well to get us to 166. But even if we would have got 240, they could have chased it as well," KL Rahul said.

KL Rahul will be next seen in action when the Lucknow Super Giants take on the Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Tuesday, May 14. The Super Giants are still in contention for the playoffs and need to win their remaining two matches by decent margins.
