GT Qualification Scenario: How Gujarat Titans Can Qualify For IPL Playoffs 2024 After GT vs RCB, Match 45

Gujarat Titans are running short of time in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. After making two back-to-back finals in the last two years, they have struggled to get going in the ongoing tournament and are reeling at the bottom half of the tournament with just 4 wins under their belt. 

Things got worse for them after they suffered a poor loss against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the 44th game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The match between the two teams took place at the Narendra Modi International Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday (28th April).

Gujarat Titans, who were asked to bat first, had a great outing with the bat even though they lost both the openers early in Wriddhiman Saha (5) and Shubman Gill (16). However, after that Shahrukh Khan (58) and Sai Sudharsan (84*) played a magnificent inning and got their team back in the game. 

The duo added 85 runs together and bailed the team out of trouble. After that, David Miller (26*) played a brutal innings with the bat and made sure that the Gujarat Titans ended with a big score on the board. The Shubman Gill-led ended with a total of 200 runs on the board. 

With the ball, they had no answers to the carnage by the Royal Challengers Bengaluru batters. First Faf du Plessis (24) played a brutal cameo at the top and set the tone for the team. After that, it was all about Virat Kohli and Will Jacks. 

First, Kohli (70*) took the attack to the bowlers and scored a blistering half-century and in the latter half Will Jacks took the onus to himself and brought up his aggressive best. He scored a sensational 100 and took his team home with 9 wickets in hand to win the game. 

Gujarat Titans Qualification Scenario for the IPL 2024 Playoffs 

The loss against Royal Challengers Bengaluru was their 6th loss in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Not only did it cost them two points but also hampered their NRR. They are currently at the 7th spot with just 4 wins under their belt with 8 points. They also have an NRR of -1.113. 

The qualification for the IPL 2024 playoffs seems to be a difficult task for them now. To fancy their chances, Gujarat Titans first need to win all their remaining four games in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. This will take them to the 16 points but a spot in playoffs won't be guaranteed even after that.

This is because Gujarat Titans have a negative NRR. Apart from winning the games, they need to make sure that they win all the games by a big margin, which might help them pip other teams as well, who are in a similar position and can reach 16 points as well. 

Therefore, the Gujarat Titans' chances of making it to the playoffs are very low. They will need help from the other teams to make it into the playoffs of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.
